KIRBY COVE CAMPSITES

The campground at Kirby Cove features just five tent-only campsites, making it one of the most exclusive and peaceful places to camp in the Bay Area. This unfortunately also makes it tough to book, but we’ll get to that in a bit. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, food storage locker, barbecue grill, and access to a shared vault toilet—though there’s no running water, so campers need to pack in their own. Each site is also large enough to accommodate 2-3 tents, ideal for groups.

Sites are well spaced beneath a canopy of trees, offering privacy and shelter from coastal winds. Site 1 is closest to the beach and widely considered the most scenic, with a direct view of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Sites 4 and 5 are set back further in the trees and offer more privacy. The small number of sites keeps the atmosphere quiet and uncrowded, creating a rare sense of solitude so close to the city. Personally, our favorite site is Site 2.
