Depending on where you’re traveling from, there are a handful of different entrances, which may alter your path or pan for this day trip to Yosemite. But for the most part, people typically enter along El Portal Road from the west, so that is how we will chart this itinerary.

The first spot on this list is one of the most iconic views in Yosemite. It also happens to be the easiest to access—kind of. Tunnel View, located on Wawona Road, offers a stunning panorama and features a fairly spacious parking lot, making it super accessible with no hiking required. However, the ease of access means the parking lot fills up fast. Tour buses frequently stop here, dropping off crowds of visitors. Our advice? Arrive EARLY or late in the day to avoid the midday rush and enjoy a quieter experience.

NOTE: During peak seasons, Yosemite offers a shuttle service to Mariposa Grove, which significantly reduces the trail length. The shuttle drops visitors off closer to the trailhead, making the Grizzly Giant Loop 2 miles instead of closer to 6 miles.
